Hyderabad, Feb. 9 -- The State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday accused the state police of acting in collusion with the ruling Congress party to suppress opposition candidates during the ongoing Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections, triggering a fresh political confrontation ahead of polling.

In a formal representation submitted to the state Director General of Police (DGP), the BJP alleged gross violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by certain police officials, claiming partisan behaviour aimed at denying a level playing field to opposition parties.

The party sought immediate and stringent action against those responsible.
