Bengaluru, Feb. 20 -- Senior BJP leader Dr Narendra Rangappa on Friday accused the Karnataka government of presiding over a shameful state of affairs in public healthcare, after reports surfaced that government hospitals were facing shortages of essential medicines.

Dr Rangappa said the allegation was raised not by his party but by government doctors themselves. He noted that the doctors' association had submitted a representation to the Chief Secretary stating that essential medicines were not available in government hospitals.
