Shimla, April 9 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Himachal Pradesh president Rajeev Bindal on Thursday accused the Congress government in the state of attempting to "hijack" the upcoming Panchayati Raj and Urban Local Body elections by manipulating the reservation roster and undermining democratic norms.
Bindal alleged that the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government had initially made repeated attempts to delay the local body elections for nearly two years and had even taken the matter to the Supreme Court.
However, after the apex court directed that the elections must be conducted before May 31, the state government has now resorted to what he termed as "a new phase of manipulation, he added.
