Siliguri, Feb. 28 -- A day ahead of BJP national president Nitin Nabin's visit to Cooch Behar to inaugurate the party's Parivartan Yatra, the district BJP leadership on Saturday alleged that its workers were attacked in Sitalkuchi and Tufanganj on Friday.

The Yatra, slated to cover nearly 5,000 km across the state in the run-up to the Assembly elections, has already sparked controversy. BJP leaders alleged that workers of the Trinamool Congress, in alleged collusion with the police, targeted their party members during campaign preparations.

According to the BJP, an OBC Morcha leader was assaulted, while a lorry carrying party flags and banners en route to Natabari was vandalised and set on fire.
