Bhubaneswar, April 6 -- The Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Odisha's principal opposition party, on Monday sharply criticised the State government for scrapping the Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project, a major initiative launched by the previous government.

BJD leaders, including Bhubaneswar District President and former Minister Ashok Panda, Bhubaneswar (Central) MLA Ananta Narayan Jena, Cuttack Mayor Subhash Singh, and Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das, voiced strong opposition to the BJP-led State government's decision, calling for a reconsideration of the project.
