Patna, July 12 -- Ahead of the crucial assembly elections in Bihar, the state government is all set to offer 100 units of electricity for free to domestic consumers every month.

The government is also planning to enhance the subsidy on electricity used for farming.

According to sources, the Energy Ministry of Bihar has prepared a draft proposal which has been approved by the Finance Department as well. Soon, it will be sent to the Bihar cabinet for approval.

The proposal to offer 100 units of electricity free to domestic consumers is an addition to the list of lucrative schemes launched by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to woo voters ahead of the assembly elections due in October-November.
