Patna, Feb. 18 -- Bihar Public Health Engineering Minister Sanjay Kumar Singh on Wednesday informed the state Assembly that the government is alert towards water pollution in the state and is working to resolve it by identifying affected areas and testing drinking water sources.
Replying to a 'calling attention' by Dulal Chandra Goswami MLA in the assembly on rising water pollution and related diseases including cancer, the minister said excessive arsenic content has been found in 14 districts, fluoride in 11 districts and iron in 12 districts. He said the government is making efforts to address the problem in these areas after conducting water quality tests.
