Patna, April 14 -- Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Monday resigned from his post, paving the way for the formation of a new government in the state.

Kumar visited Lokbhavan at around 3:15 PM, where he submitted his resignation to Bihar Governor Atta Hasnain.

Accompanied by the Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Bihar Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Choudhary, he tendered his resignation. The Governor has accepted the resignation.

Earlier in the day, Kumar chaired his final cabinet meeting, marking the end of his tenure.

The move comes amid a broader political transition, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) set to take the lead in forming the next government under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
