Patna, Feb. 20 -- The Bihar Assembly on Friday passed the budgetary demand of over Rs 20,132.86 crore for the Home Department for the financial year 2026-27 by voice vote amid a walkout by Opposition members.
Replying to the debate on the budgetary demand, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary said that the state government is continuously increasing the strength of the police force to strengthen law and order.
He said in 2026, appointments are being made to 19,838 constable posts, 1,799 sub-inspector posts, and 4,361 driver constable posts, filling a total of 25,998 vacancies.
