Bengaluru, April 13 -- The Centre has cleared the introduction of a Vande Bharat Sleeper train service between Bengaluru and Mumbai, with the rollout targeted by the end of July, marking a major boost to inter-city rail connectivity.

Replying to Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis X post, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Tejasvi Surya said the two cities are among India's most important growth engines and deserve world-class connectivity, which is being fulfilled under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said the Railway Board Chairman informed him during a telephonic conversation that new sleeper coaches are currently being readied for the service, with efforts underway to meet the July-end launch timeline.
