Kolkata, March 11 -- Tension gripped Gangasagar in West Bengal's South 24-Parganas district on Wednesday morning after a local BJP leader was shot at by unidentified assailants near a bus stand.
According to police sources, the injured leader has been identified as Trilokesh Dhali. The incident occurred around 8 a.m. near the Sreedham bus stand under the Gangasagar Coastal police station area when two miscreants allegedly arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire at him before fleeing the spot.
Police said the bullet hit Dhali in the chest, leaving him seriously injured. He collapsed on the road in a pool of blood soon after the attack.
