New Delhi, Feb. 24 -- The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered that district judges from outside should be deployed, if required, for expediting the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal.

District judges, additional district judges, including the retired ones could be deployed for the purpose, the court said.

The bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant, Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipin Pancholi today allowed deployment of civil judge to expedite the work.

The apex court said the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court can approach the CJs of the Orissa and Jharkhand High Courts to seek for support of judicial officers from the two states.
