Kolkata, March 16 -- A day after the announcement of the West Bengal Assembly election schedule, the poll momentum picked up on Monday, as the BJP and the Left Front announced its major share of candidates, while state chief minister Mamata Banerjee kick-started the Trinamool Congress campaign with a huge rally.
On the administrative side, the Election Commission of India carried out a major reshuffle by replacing the Director General of Police (DGP), the Kolkata Police Commissioner and several other senior officers, hours after ordering the removal of the state's chief secretary and home secretary.
