Kolkata, March 5 -- In a surprising development, West Bengal Governor C. V. Ananda Bose on Thursday resigned from his post, triggering speculation in political circles as the state prepares for the upcoming Assembly elections.

The reasons behind his sudden decision remain unclear.

Expressing shock over Bose's resignation, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said R N Ravi has been appointed in his place. "Union Home Minister just informed me that Shri R.N. Ravi is being appointed as Governor of West Bengal," she said on X.

Sources said Bose is currently in New Delhi and has already submitted his resignation to the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
