Mumbai, Aug. 7 -- In response to charges of irregularities in the Chief Minister's Ladki Bahin Scheme, the Maharashtra govt has decided to go beyond digital verification and conduct door-to-door inspections to identify genuine beneficiaries.

Anganwadi workers will carry out the verification process. This move comes after several instances surfaced where women from the same family allegedly manipulated documents to avail of the benefits.

Jalna district has reported a particularly high number of such fraudulent cases, prompting the government to take strict action.
