New Delhi, Aug. 25 -- The Bar Council of India (BCI) has strongly opposed a recent notification issued by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi on August 13, designating police stations in the capital as places for recording the evidence of police officials through video conferencing.

In a letter jointly signed by BCI Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra and Co-Chairman Ved Prakash Sharma, the Council registered a collective protest on behalf of advocates, warning that the measure violates the fundamental principles of a fair trial and must be withdrawn immediately.
