Dhaka, Dec. 3 -- The Bangladesh Supreme Court is set to announce its verdict on Thursday on a leave-to-appeal petition filed by lawyer Muhammad Mohsen Rashid, challenging the legality of both the formation and the oath-taking ceremony of the Chief Advisor Md Yunus-led interim government.

A seven-member Appellate Division bench, led by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, fixed the date after concluding hearings during the day on the petition filed by Rashid, after the country's High Court rejected the petition early this year.

The HC verdict ruled that the interim government was rooted in the "people's mandate" post the July Uprising in 2024, thereby making it legal, adding that it was formed in accordance with the body's own advisory opinion...
