Dhaka, Nov. 21 -- Restoring the provision of a caretaker government, the Appellate Division of Bangladesh's Supreme Court issued a formal ruling, prospectively restoring the provision for the Election-time Non-Partisan Caretaker Government (NPCG) system in the Constitution, after it was removed in 2011 by the then Awami League govt of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The court announced that the NPCG system, originally inserted via the 13th constitutional amendment of 1996, has been "activated and revived".
Declaring its satisfaction, the SC claimed that the previous judgment was "tainted by several cited errors apparent on the face of the record", thereby setting it aside in its entirety.
