Dhaka, June 1 -- In a political and legal victory, the Bangladesh - Jamaat -e-Islami (BJI) has regained its political certification after winning its appeal for re-registration at the Appellate Division of the country's Supreme Court, more than a decade after it was banned.

The controversial ruling also overturned the High Court's 2013 ruling, directing the Bangladesh Election Commission to officially register the hardline Islamic party for participation in national polls.

BJI chief Ameer Shafiqur Rahman welcomed the decision, calling it "rightful return to place", reports Business Standard BD.
