Shillong, Aug. 9 -- In a massive border security breach, suspected Bangladeshi police personnel and criminals entered Indian Territory and attacked Indian villagers in Meghalaya's South West Khasi Hills district, injuring one person.
A police official said the incident occurred in Rongdongai village under the Nongjri-Nonghyllam area along the India-Bangladesh border yesterday.
A joint operation has been launched by troopers of the Border Security Force (BSF) and Meghalaya Police to nab the Bangladeshi intruders.
"Eight to nine Bangladeshis entered Rongdongai village, fired at the villagers and assaulted another," Banraplang Jyrwa, the district police chief of South West Khasi Hills, said.
