Narayanganj, Dec. 17 -- Amping the government crackdown on the now-banned Awami League party, Bangladesh interim govt Home Affairs Advisor Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury told authorities to arrest the "criminals of the Awami League" as per law, regardless of whether or not any criminal cases have been filed against them.
Issuing the directive Wednesday afternoon, the HA's move comes in wake of a programme at a building of the country's prominent national garment exporter body BKMEA (Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association) in the river city of Narayanganj, where student leaders carried out a procession and blocked the advisor's convoy, placing seven demands before him.
