Dhaka, Dec. 11 -- Bangladesh's former ruling Awami League party on Thursday formally rejected the newly announced national election schedule, claiming it was "heavily biased".
The now banned party, which played a leading role in the country's freedom movement, also called into question the schedule's very legitimacy, deeming any elections without the Awami League as redundant, given that it is historically both the country's oldest and to-date its "most popular party" despite the ban.
