New Delhi, Jan. 29 -- In a significant step towards promoting fair and equitable sharing of biological resources, the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has disbursed Rs 17 lakh to the Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC) of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in Maharashtra through the State Biodiversity Board.

The payment, made under the Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) framework, comes after the successful commercial utilisation of soil micro-organisms belonging to the Bacillus genus.
