Mumbai, Aug. 6 -- Prahar Janshakti Party leader Bachchu Kadu has claimed that his meeting with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray today, was only to discuss farmers' issues and not about the local body elections or any political alliance.

Kadu emphasised that he seeks the MNS's support not for electoral reasons, but to help save dying farmers. "We discussed ways to rescue farmers, not how to fight local body elections together," he said.

Kadu said he had invited Thackeray to participate in the ongoing Yavatmal yatra focused on farmers' issues.

He said that while Mumbai has often shut down for various reasons, it should now observe a bandh for at least one day in support of farmers' rightful demands,
