Dhaka, Nov. 19 -- Senior Awami League official, and Bangladesh's former Information and Broadcasting Minister Mohammad Ali Arafat, slammed Chief Advisor Mohammed Yunus' interim government, stating that an administration "backed by Islamist extremists" could never grasp the true extent of the now-banned party's ties with India.

His remarks come in wake of the country's domestic International Crimes Tribunal's (ICT) verdict on Monday, Nov 17, which condemned the former PM Sheikh Hasina to the gallows for her guilt, in the alleged "crimes against humanity" during the July 2024 uprising.
