New Delhi, Oct. 28 -- The Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) has approached the Supreme Court seeking relief in connection with unutilised compensation cess credits amounting to nearly Rs 2,500 crore, which are at risk of lapsing under the newly introduced GST 2.0 regime.

FADA, representing thousands of automobile dealers across the country, has clarified that its petition does not oppose the implementation of GST 2.0, but seeks to ensure fairness and protection for small and medium auto dealers affected by the transition.

In a statement, the industry body said, "GST 2.0 is a proud reform. But Rs 2,500 crore of genuine, tax-paid compensation cess credits now risk lapsing, hurting thousands of MSME auto dealers.
