Lucknow, April 5 -- The Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education has issued special instructions, strictly prohibiting the use of unauthorized textbooks in all secondary schools in the state for the 2026-27 academic session.

The Board has clarified that only books from authorized publishers will be used in schools, and strict action will be taken against the institutions for using unauthorized books.

The order issued by Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh states that many schools are forcibly implementing expensive and unauthorized books from private publishers, which are being sold at prices ranging from 149 to 361 per cent higher than the prescribed rates. This is increasing the financial burden on parents and students.
