Bengaluru, Feb. 4 -- Allegations of a Rs 6,000 crore liquor scam in Karnataka escalated into a major political flashpoint on Wednesday as the BJP cited audio clips purportedly naming senior leaders and its legislators continued their dharna inside the Assembly since last night demanding the immediate resignation of Excise Minister RB Thimmapur.
Karnataka BJP president Vijayendra Yediyurappa told reporters that audio recordings in the public domain allegedly contained conversations between a district-level officer, the Excise Commissioner and an agent, in which the names of the Excise Minister, his son and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah were mentioned.
