Gaza City, June 3 -- Forty people have been killed and over 200 injured during fighting in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, the Gaza Health Ministry said on Tuesday.
"Over the past 24 hours, 40 dead, one of which died under the rubble, and 208 injured have been admitted to hospitals in the Gaza Strip," the ministry said in a statement on Telegram.
According to estimates by the Gaza authorities, the total number of Palestinians who have been killed since October 7, 2023, have risen to 54,510, with 124,901 injured. Since March 18, 4,240 people have been killed, with 12,860 injured.
Israel resumed strikes on the Gaza Strip on March 18, citing Hamas' refusal to accept the US plan to extend the ceasefire, which expired on March 1.
