Bhopal, Jan. 15 -- A student from Assam was allegedly thrashed by five fellow students at the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) at Amarkantak in the Anuppur district of BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh.

The police have registered an FIR against the five accused in the matter on Thursday.

The University disciplinary committee has expelled all five students accused of assaulting the Assamese student.

According to Anuppur SDOP Naveen Tiwari, the victim Hiros Jyoti Das (23) lodged the complaint against the five accused, and on that basis the police registered an FIR.

The official said that the case has been registered under Sections 115(2), 296, 351(3), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
