Guwahati, Sept. 27 -- In a first-of-its-kind study, Assam's Kaziranga National Park has recorded 283 species of native insects and spiders.

A statement issued by the Director of Kaziranga National Park, Sonali Ghosh, said the study documented 283 species, comprising 254 insect species and 29 spider species, marking a vital step toward understanding Kaziranga's often-overlooked biodiversity.

"The findings highlight the urgent need to prioritise insect conservation, especially as climate change threatens to accelerate species loss," she added.
