Guwahati, July 18 -- Assam police are examining if the speeches of Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi in Assam had any impact to incite the mob at Paikan that led to the deaths of civilians and the injury of several others, including policemen.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said this while addressing a press conference in Dispur on Friday and added that if the police found any impact, they might call both the Congress leaders.
Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, had addressed a Congress workers rally at Palasbari on Wednesday and vowed to arrest Assam chief minister if the party comes to power after next year's election.
