Guwahati, Jan. 23 -- Assam leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia has written to the Chief Election Commission alleging manipulation of voter list during the recently held Special Revision (SR) exercise in Assam. Saikia in his letter has alleged irregularities in Assembly Constituency number 97 (Nazira).
"Several permanent residents of Ward No. 9, Deopani Gohain Gaon, under the Nazira constituency, submitted written representations to the District Election Officer on January 21, 2026, alleging that their names were excluded from the electoral rolls despite being eligible voters," Saikia wrote.
Copies of these representations were also forwarded to the District Commissioner of Sivasagar, he added.
