Guwahati, June 17 -- As the ONGC gas leakage continued in Sivsagar district of Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced a one-time assistance of Rs 25,000 to each family affected by the gas leakage.
The one-time assistance is for the immediate relief of the families who have to vacate their houses due to the gas leakage in the adjoining areas.
The Chief Minister also said that he would take up the issue of compensation to the affected families with the ONGC and the Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.
The CM made it clear that the financial assistance is being given from the Chief Ministers' Relief Fund and that it is not connected to the compensation.
