Guwahati, Feb. 18 -- Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that the BJP has requested the Election Commission of India (ECI) delegation to hold the elections in a single phase in Assam before the Rongali Bihu which starts from April 15.
While addressing a media briefing here, the Chief Minister said,"Assam is a completely peaceful state now and we have requested the ECI today to hold the elections in a one single phase."It may be mentioned here that a high-level delegation of the ECI, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, arrived in Assam yesterday to comprehensively review and oversee the multifarious aspects of the forthcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections.
