Itanagar, July 31 -- In a heartfelt appeal to safeguard a key symbol of tribal heritage and rural livelihoods, Mithun farmers from Arunachal Pradesh have called upon the state MPs Kiren Rijiju and Tapir Gao to advocate for the inclusion of Mithun (Bos frontalis) in the National Livestock Mission (NLM).

Mithun, an indigenous semi-domesticated bovine species, holds deep cultural, nutritional, and economic significance across the region. Despite its importance, it remains excluded from central livestock development schemes, leaving farmers without access to scientific support and sustainable farming infrastructure.
