Guwahati, Feb. 11 -- Vice president of the Assam Congress Election Committee Sanju Baruah has resigned from the grand old party following allegations of Gaurav Gogoi's "Pakistan" links.

Baruah's resignation came at a time when Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made public the SIT report on Sunday and alleged Gogoi of having links with Pakistan.

Baruah sent his resignation to AICC leader Mallikarjun Kharge and said that nothing can be above sovereignty and national security of one's motherland.

"I have already sent two letters to the AICC leadership earlier asking them to insist that Gogoi clarify his stand on the allegation levelled against him," said Baruah.
