Palakonda, March 11 -- Marking World Kidney Day, NephroPlus, one of Asia's largest dialysis care networks, organised a local water conservation initiative in Palakonda, Andhra Pradesh by distributing RO reject water generated during dialysis to Area Hospital, Palakonda and to a local farmer, S Srinivasarao, for non-drinking utility purposes.
Dialysis treatment requires large volumes of purified water, and the RO purification process generates reject water that can be reused safely for non-clinical applications. At the NephroPlus dialysis centre in Palakonda, an average of 30-35 hemodialysis sessions are conducted daily, generating nearly 10,000 litres of reject water every day, a release stated on Wednesday.
