Visakhapatnam, Feb. 22 -- Launching a sharp attack on former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) State president Palla Srinivasa Rao on Sunday alleged that the YSR Congress Party leadership had displayed "scant regard for Hindu faith and sentiment" while in office, only to invoke religion now for political expediency.

Addressing the media here, Srinivasa Rao accused the YSRCP of having reduced matters of faith to instruments of partisan mobilisation. "Those who, while in power, failed to uphold the dignity of Hindu institutions are today attempting to cloak themselves in religiosity for electoral advantage," he remarked, in a pointed reference to Reddy's tenure.
