Vijayawada, Nov. 5 -- The Andhra Pradesh government will purchase 51 lakh metric tonnes of paddy produce from farmers during the kharif season.

At a presser here on Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar announced that the government has made preparations to purchase over 51 lakh metric tonnes of paddy produce from farmers by paying Rs 12,200 crore.

"To purchase paddy produce from the farmers, the government is setting up 4,041 Rythu Seva Kendras, 3,803 paddy purchasing centres and deploying 16,700 staff to take part in the paddy purchasing process across the state," the Minister said.
