Kakinada, Feb. 28 -- In a massive explosion in a firecracker unit, 21 people were killed and 13 were injured, 9 of them very critically, at Vetapalem village of Samalkot mandal on Saturday.
Police said that a massive explosion took place at the Suryasri firecrackers making unit killing at least 21 people. As many as 13 were injured and they were admitted in the GGH where the condition of nine of the injured was said to be very critical. According to the eye witness, over 34 workers were working in the firecracker making unit when the ghastly incident took place.
The explosion was so powerful that the sound could be heard at the surrounding villages, located five kilometers away from the place of the accident. Most of the dead and injured ...
