Visakhapatnam, April 13 -- The Andhra Pradesh Fisheries Department has imposed a ban on fishing in east coast sea waters from April 15 to June 15, 2026, to protect marine breeding during the peak spawning season.
In a press release, the Deputy Director of Fisheries on Monday said mechanised and motorised boats will not be allowed to operate for fishing during this period, as several fish species lay eggs in sea waters and require protection for natural reproduction.
The annual ban, enforced under the Andhra Pradesh Marine Fishing Regulation Act, 1995, aims to conserve fish stocks and ensure sustainable marine resources.
