Agartala, May 18 -- Tripura government on Saturday appointed the 1994 batch IPS and well-known fraud examiner Anurag as the new DGP of the state, replacing the 1988 batch IPS Amitabh Ranjan ahead of his retirement.

According to reports, soon after his appointment, Anurag took over the charge as DGP at night. His appointment as chief made the rank and file of police happy, and there were celebrations in different police units, including police headquarters.

Anurag, a postgraduate in food technology from CFTRI, Mysore, holds a master's degree in police management from Osmania University and a PG diploma in cyber crimes from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. He is a certified fraud examiner from ACFE, USA.
