Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Dec. 11 -- Anamika Pal was a teenager when she first heard the story of a young woman who was punished for secretly drinking milk at the home of her husband.

Half-a-decade later, the anecdote from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh is the subject of a short film directed by Pal, now a third-year student at the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFI) in Kolkata.

"I was 19 when I heard a distant female relative talking about her daughter-in-law who drank a glass of milk secretly," says the Allahabad-born Pal, whose short film, 'Nipaniya' (Dropless), is part of the prestigious International Shorts Competition at the fifth edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival here.
