Chennai, Jan. 3 -- Andhra Pradesh is expected to attract sizeable investments from the space sector players as the Indian space agency wants to make its next-generation big rocket in and around Sriharikota.

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has decided to build a rocket with a capacity to carry a 30-ton satellite to low Earth orbit (LEO).

The rocket's lift-off mass will be about 1,000 tons and will stand about 105 metres tall.

Owing to their big size, the rocket components and other systems cannot be moved by road over long distances, and they have to be made near Sriharikota, said Dr. S.Somanath, Former Secretary, Department of Space and former Chairman, ISRO.

India's rocket port is in Sriharikota.
