Chandigarh, Jan. 29 -- In one of the most significant crackdowns on cross-border narco-terrorism, the Amritsar Rural Police have intercepted a massive consignment of narcotics and high-grade weaponry smuggled from Pakistan. Addressing a press conference, DIG Border Range Sandeep Goel confirmed the recovery of approximately 43 kilograms of heroin, four Chinese-made P-86 hand grenades, a foreign-made pistol, and 46 live cartridges from Othian village in the Rajasansi sector.
The international market value of the seized narcotics is estimated to exceed Rs 200 crore. According to the police, the contraband was dropped via drones from across the border in black waterproof packaging.
