Chandigarh, May 3 -- In a massive crackdown on trans-border smuggling, the Punjab Police, through two separate operations in the Amritsar region, dismantled organized narcotics and illegal weapon modules.
The operations led to the arrest of seven individuals and the recovery of 12 kg of heroin along with seven sophisticated foreign-made pistols.
In the first operation, the Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of Amritsar intercepted a narcotics smuggling module near the toll plaza on the Amritsar-Chabal Road in Tarn Taran district. Acting on specific intelligence, the team apprehended three accused and seized 12 kg of heroin.
