Chandigarh, Feb. 18 -- In a major crackdown on illegal trade and smuggling, the Amritsar Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate has destroyed a massive haul of seized foreign-origin cigarettes.

A total of 4,02,800 cigarette sticks, intercepted during various enforcement operations, were disposed of through a controlled incineration process. The market value of the destroyed contraband is estimated to be approximately 67.83 lakh.

The disposal was carried out in strict accordance with government transparency protocols and environmental safety standards.
