New Delhi, March 11 -- Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday blasted the Opposition's No-Confidence Motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, terming it "an unfortunate incident for parliamentary politics".
Speaking in the Lok Sabha during the debate on 'No confidence motion' against the Speaker, Shah pointed out that the constitution has given the role of a mediator to the Speaker.
"You cast suspicions on the mediator. In 75 years, both the Houses have made the foundation of our democracy deeper than 'paatal' (hell). Opposition has questioned the reputation of that deep foundation," the minister said.
