Kolkata, June 1 -- Aiming to boost the BJP's rank and file ahead of next year's West Bengal assembly election, Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kolkata on Saturday night to meet BJP karyakartas on Sunday.
He is also set to preside over an official function at Rajarhat in Kolkata's north east fringes before returning to New Delhi.
Greeting Shah at the Dum Dum airport, leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari said the visit is of great significance as he would be inaugurating the new building for the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, "a step that will greatly enhance our state's forensic capabilities", the Nandigram MLA said on his X handle.
